| How do I connect with Windows 95?
|
To setup your dialup connection to Mailaka on Windows 95.
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, and then click on Dialup Networking.
- In there you will see an icon labeled "Make New Connection".
- Double-click on that icon. Type in Mailaka, then click next.
- Type in your local access number (keeping in mind that the access number needs to be dialed the same way you would dial if you were calling a friend at that number.)
- Click next, and then click finish.
- Right-click on the new Mailaka icon, and a small menu will appear.
- On that menu, left-click on "Create Shortcut".
- A message will appear saying "Unable to create shortcut here, would you like to place a shortcut on your desktop instead?" Click "Yes".
- Now close the Dialup Networking window.
- You should now see "Shortcut to Mailaka" on your desktop. Double-click that icon, and a window will be displayed asking for username and password.
- Enter your username.
- Type in your password.
- Then click on Connect.
Your PC will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.

To setup your dialup connection to Mailaka on Windows 2000.
- Click on Start, Settings, and then Network and Dialup Connections.
- Double-click "Make New Connection".
- Click Next at the first screen, then choose the first option (Dial Up to private network)
- Click Next, and then enter the access number in the appropriate field. (NOTE: If the area code is required, check the "Use Dialing Rules" box at the bottom.)
- Click Next. At the next screen, you're best bet is to choose "For all users (this means that all users logging onto your machine can access this Dialup Networking connection)
- Click Next. Name the connection "Mailaka".
- Make sure that the "Place a shortcut on my desktop" checkbox is checked, and click Next.
- The Connect To Mailaka box will appear.
- Enter your logon id into the User name field.
- Enter your password in the Password field.
- Make sure that the proper number is in the "Dial" field.
- Click Dial, and your PC will dial up to the Internet.
Your PC will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.

To Setup a connection to Mailaka in Windows NT 4.0.
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, then Dialup Networking
- Click OK to create a phonebook entry
- Enter the name Mailaka, then Next
- Check the box "I am calling the Internet" then click Next
- Enter the local access number here, then click Next (to disable call waiting, enter *70, in front of the number)
- Click Finish to complete the entry
- Verify the number, then click Dial
- Enter your user name
- Enter your password
- Click OK
Your PC will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.

| How do I connect with Windows XP?

To Setup your Dialup connection to Mailaka on Windows XP.
- Click on Start, and then Control Panel
- Click Network Connections
- Choose: "New Connection"
- Connection type will be "Dialup"
- The New Connection Wizard will come up; Click Next.
- Choose Connect to Internet and Click Next.
- Choose Setup manually and click Next.
- Choose Dialup modem and click Next
- ISP Name, enter: Mailaka
- Enter your local access number, exactly as it needs to be dialed.
- Enter your Username. This is supplied by Mailaka
- Enter your password.
- Enter your password a second time.
- Click Next and then Next again.
- Click Finish.
- A Shortcut to Mailaka will appear on your Desktop - main screen of your computer. Double-click on the shortcut, verify the information and click Dial.
Your PC will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.

| How do I connect with Mac OS X (10.1)?

To Setup your Dialup connection to Mailaka on Mac OS X 10.1.
- Click the Apple Menu
- Click System Preferences
- Click the Network icon.
- Location should be set to Automatic.
- Show should be set to Internal Modem.
- Configure should be set to Using PPP.
- Click the PPP tab.
- In the Service Provider box type: Mailaka.
- In the Telephone Number box type your access number (keeping in mind that the access number needs to be dialed the same way you would dial if you were calling a friend at that number.)
- In the Account Name box type your user name.
- In the password box type your password.
- Place a check in the box labeled Save Password.
- Click PPP options.
- The following should be checked: Redial if busy, Send PPP echo packets, Use TCP header compression
- Click OK.
- Click the Modem tab.
- Make sure the modem you are using is listed in the Modem box. If not, click the arrows and select your modem.
- Make sure there is a check next to Show modem status in menu bar.
- Click Apply NOw.
- Close the network window.
- To connect to the Internet, click the telephone in the upper right-hand corner of the desktop.
- click Open Internet Connect
- A connection window will appear. Click Connect.
Your Mac will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.

To Setup your Dialup connection to Mailaka on Mac 9.
- Click the Apple in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
- Select Control Panels.
- Select TCP/IP.
- Connect via should be set to PPP.
- Configure should be set to Using PPP Server.
- Close the TCP/IP window.
- A dialog box will appear asking if you would like to save changes. Click Save.
- Click the Apple in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
- Select Control Panels.
- Select Remote Access.
- Type your username in the box labeled Name.
- Type your password in the box labeled Password.
- Type your access number in the box labeled Number (keeping in mind that the access number needs to be dialed the same way you would dial if you were calling a friend at that number.)
- Click the Options button.
- Click the redialing tab.
- Change Redial to Redial main number only.
- Input the number of times you would like to redial, we suggest 10.
- Click the connection tab.
- Make sure Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes is unchecked.
- Click the Protocol tab.
- Ensure that the first 3 items are checked.
- Ensure that Connect to a command-line host is NOT checked.
- Click OK.
- To connect to the Internet, click the Apple in the upper left-hand corner of your screen.
- Click Control Panels.
- Click Remote Access.
- Click Connect.
Your Mac will dialup, and then once you're connected, you can open Internet Explorer or whichever browser you prefer to use, and you're up and running.
