Mailaka FAQs
| How long does it take to setup Mailaka?
|
Usually, it you will get a response in under 4 hours to online applications. New accounts are processed in batches many times a day, from early in the morning until late at night, in order to get your order through as quickly as possible. Occasionally there may be delays for various reasons, and an account may, on rare occasion, take up to twelve hours to process. If you have not received your setup information within twelve hours, chances are we either did not receive the application, or the email address we have on file to send the information to is incorrect.
In the event that a "Welcome Email" bounces back to us, we generally re-send the information, and also try to reach you via phone. If you do apply for an account, but do not receive your setup information, please email mailaka@mailaka.net, or call us at 281-675-7351. Please do not assume that the account is not setup; we may have received your information, setup and activated the account, and if for some reason the email does not bounce back to us we will assume that you've received the information and are not having any problems, and will proceed with billing you for the service.

| Do I need the setup utility (setup disk)?
|
No, it is not necessary to use our software to connect to Mailaka. Our tech support staff can walk you through the configuration, or you can view the instructions on this page for the given Operating System (version of Windows, etc.) that you have.
Setting up Mailaka will not affect your current connection if you're still online with another provider.

| Can I connect with Linux, WebTV, or my PDA?
|
Yes, you can connect with a WebTV, PDA, Playstation 2, or a Linux-based computer.
As only few of our members are using such devices, we do not offer active support for them; however, if you are familiar enough with your device, you can most certainly configure the connection manually, without using the Mailaka Setup Utility.

| After I connect with Mailaka, nothing happens.
|
It sounds like the dial up connection is successful, and you are able to connect to us.
All that our service provides is a connection to the Internet, after which you can use Internet Explorer or Netscape, for example, to browse web-pages on the web. Next time you attempt to connect, and you see the connection window shrink to the bottom right of the screen, see if there is a small icon with two computer screens near your clock, on the bottom right.
If so, you're connected.
Internet Explorer comes with windows, so you should have it. Open the program by double-clicking the blue E shaped icon on your desktop, and you're browsing the web!
