| How do I setup my web space?
|
Each Mailaka member is entitled to 10 megabytes of free Webspace Just let us know what you'd like your Webspace to be called. We'll set it up and notify you when complete.
The username will be mypage@mailaka.net (where mypage is what you choose)
The password will be your account password.
The address will be: http://members.mailaka.net/mypage@mailaka.net/ (where mypage is what you choose)
Webspace names can contain up to 12 letters, numbers, and underscores. Also, they must start with a letter.
We recommend including a few choices, in case your first choice is not available. You can submit your request here.
Note: Once your web-page is active, you will need to create and upload a web-page to your Webspace before you can view it. Mailaka does not provide assistance in the creation of web sites, but we do provide the FTP information that will allow you to upload your website.

| How do I upload my web site?
|
You will need FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software to upload your website. The web space is designed for members that have knowledge of building web sites Once you've built your website, you can upload it to the web space, and anyone can view your website by entering the URL, or Address, http://members.mailaka.net/yourpage@mailaka.net/ (yourpage being the name you chose, all lowercase)
If you do not have FTP software, you can visit www.download.com, and search for "WSFTP LE". This software is free, as it is limited in features, but it will allow you to connect and upload your files.
If you have Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later, you can also connect using it, by entering ftp.mailaka.net in the address bar. You will get a message stating that anonymous logins are not allowed, to which you can enter "OK".
Then, click on File, Login As.
This will prompt for your Webspace Username and Password
Once logged in, you can drag and drop your files right into the Internet Explorer window, and it will upload your files to our servers.

| How do I create a web page?
|
There are many programs available for web design. The industry standard programs are Dreamweaver and Frontpage, but there are many less complex and cheaper programs available.
In fact, if you know how to write HTML code (the language that web-pages are written in) you can write your HTML code in Notepad, a simple text editor that comes with Windows.
As web design can be a complex and time-consuming skill to learn, Mailaka does not provide support for designing or building web-pages.

| Can I use my own domain name with my web space?
|
The free personal web spaces provided by Mailaka with your Dialup account do not support or work with Registered Domains.
The personal Web space can be a name of your choosing, between 4 and 12 characters, and will have a URL (Universal Resource Locator, or address) of http://members.mailaka.net/yourpage@mailaka.net/.
